Out of Commission

I was so excited to go out on Saturday night with some friends, I stopped and got a Starbucks to keep me awake... I knew it was going to be a late night. Then I went to get my nails done (Have I ever mentioned that gel nails are essential to detailed finishing?). As I was waiting for the red light to turn green in the left hand lane I saw an old, muddy jeep flying in the rear-view mirror...I knew what was coming.* EEEEEK SPPPPLLAASH* (thats the sound of me being rear-ended and my grande skinny caramel latte spilling all over my car) Dang it. I had been hit...and hard. I mean this jeep was a'flyin! So i got out (light is STILL red) and had the go get the girl out of her jeep and this is what I got:

me: umm hi
her: (in a valley girl voice) like, is there even any damage?
me: umm yes, to my car but not to yours, lets pull over out of traffic so we can exchange info.
her: well, ok, but, like, can we go to the Shell station, I need to get gas.
me: ummmmm...sure (thinking, you idiot, you just rear ended me and your concerned about getting fuel right now???!!)

Ok, so we pull over to the Shell station, for her convenience, and it was just heck for me, I mean, I was trying to be the nicest I could be, because I have rear ended someone too, and I know that it sucks, but this girl was not sorry or worried in the slightest. She was a complete ditz. Didnt have her insurance on her, had to call mommy and daddy to get her information. WOW. (all in the meantime she goes into the Shell station, buys herself some candy and a drink and fuels up...me with whiplash and coffee all over my car.)

Needless to say...I didnt get my nails done, and I didnt go out that night...and I didnt get my latte either! haha. AND I will be out of commission for I dont know how long, but there will be no furniture for a bit here. :(

Idaho Farm Table *SOLD*

This vintage kitchen table is from a farm house in Idaho. It is solid pine and very sturdy. It has been refinished with a dark walnut stain and top-coated. The base has been painted in an antique white/cream color and heavily distressed and glazed to pick up all the details and markings. It has a very neat stow-away leaf that ads lots of character. I see this piece in an eat-in kitchen, its the perfect size, or as a desk or even a kitchen island! Sold to a cute couple that just moved from New Zealand!

Black and Gold Frenchie *SOLD*

This is a solid wood French Provincial style dresser with 6 drawers. Painted in black and cream with lots of gold accents and glazing! The sides are covered in gold textured paper. Sealed with a glossy top-coat. Perfect for an entryway piece, sideboard or as a bedroom dresser, of course. This dresser also has a matching gold mirror that mounts right on the dresser. Pictures do not do this one justice!

Vintage Clawfoot Table *SOLD*

This vintage clawfoot table is solid oak with a brass inlay glass top. It has been painted in black and white with gold detailing and finished in a high gloss. Absolutely beautiful table with gorgeous details. Perfect Christmas gift!

Shabby Grey & Aqua Multipurpose Dresser *SOLD*

This cute little solid wood dresser has been repurposed into a shabby glazed grey display hutch with aqua beadboard shelves, drawer and handles. Painted in white high end furniture paint and then rubbed with a grey/black glaze to enhance the detail. Can be used for multiple purposes (dresser, sideboard, display hutch, office credenza, bathroom cabinet...) Email if you're interested! P.S. Retro Eiffel Tower Dresser *SOLD*

This is a solid wood, 5-drawer dresser from the 1960's. Painted in white and green in a fun zig-zag pattern on the top and sides. The front has an Eiffel Tower applique. All drawers function perfectly. This piece will add a little spunk to any room!

New Workspace & Tools! Yay!

I decided that for Christmas I wanted some new tools for refinishing. Ive been using the smallest sander you've ever seen on these big pieces and hand painting everything x 4 coats. VERY time consuming, and the paint brushes just werent cuttin it! So me and hubby went to the store and bought my Christmas presents early. New paint sprayer (a pretty penny) and new sander! SO excited to use them. Check out my new workspace in our garage, I've left absolutely no room to park my car!

Dont Toss Yer Punkins!

I have a lot of pumpkins still sitting around my house (the mushy ones have been thrown away) and didnt really know what to do with them. So I looked up some cute craft ideas for winter and found this great way to salvage yer pumpkins and create some winter decor!

Pumkin Snowman:
You can use large or small pumkins for this project, the bigger the pumpkins, the bigger the snowmen!

1. Cut off the stems of the 2 base pumpkins so that they will sit on top of eachother nicely; you can keep the top pumkin stem on (it will be the hat).

2. Spraypaint the pumpkins with white. I just used Kilz spraypaint primer. You can use any white spraypaint though. I did about 3 coats to make sure all the orange was covered. Allow to dry for at least a couple hours.

3. Once the pumpkins are dry, decorate them however you want. I used permanent marker and craft paint to draw in eyes, nose, mouth, scarf, hat and buttons! Pretty cute, and it cost me nothing!
